EYE PROTECTION- Safety Glasses

Proper eye protection must be worn when the nature of the operation presents a potential eye or face injury. Examples of these hazards include : Flying Objects, Dust, Hot or Splashing Metals, Harmfuls Rays, Caustics or Acids.

The revised standard ANSI Z87.1 -1989 tightened the requirements for impact protection while allowing freedom in design. The 29CFR1910.133 state that protective eyewear equipment shall be required where there is a reasonable prolixity of injury that can be prevented by such equipment. In such cases, employers shall make available a type of protector suitable for the work to be performed, and employees are to use such protection.
